Foreign language police certificates – translation needed?

by admin on March 18, 2010

I am sponsoring my (Danish) spouse to move with me to Canada next year and in his application he needs to include a police certificate. However, it doesn’t specify on the forms nor on the official Canadian Immigration web site if they just require the certificate or if you also need to provide a translation in English of the certificate if it is from a foreign-speaking country. Does anyone know?

Thanks for your time :)

The best thing would be to give them a call and ask them.
When I moved to Switzerland and applied for a spousal green card, I had to provide official translations (by an approved translation office) of my birth-certificate and my police certificate.

Most Danish people and Scandinavians speak three languages at least.
Unlike Americans; Most of Scandinavian immigrants and tourists in Mexico, are fluent in Spanish.

Since it would be useless to the Canadians as a document in Danish, I would assume that you should get a translation and get it certified.
